this past friday mike, kyle and i rode our bikes out to wekiwa springs. it all started by talking about going on longer rides, and mike suggested we ride out to wekiwa. i was thinking longer rides as in a ride to the beach, but that would suffice. 

i’ve never been to wekiwa, but the fact that it was a spring conjured up waterfalls, uncharted territory, and vast openness. i was disappointed at first. my $2 entree fee was for a super-sized swimming pool? what a waste.

sunshine state’s summer caused sweated skin too slippery for even mosquitos to get a hold of. so to offset our heated minds, we did what we came to do. the water was rejuvenating. the ground slippery, apparently because of all the algae.

kyle brought some goggles, and we took turns exploring the depth of the basin. i was surprised by what i saw next. the underwater cave was marvelous.

so i was listening to “A Liquor Never Brewed” by Mischief Brew (i just got into them) and I found out that it’s based off an Emily Dickinson poem. the poem is tittled “I taste a liquor never brewed.”

not sure if you know this or not but emily dickinson didn’t title her poems so most of her poems are titled after the first line in the poem.

“I taste a liquor never brewed,
From tankards scooped in pearl;
Not all the vats upon the Rhine
Yield such an alcohol!

Inebriate of air am I,
And debauchee of dew,
Reeling, through endless summer days,
From inns of molten blue.

When landlords turn the drunken bee
Out of the foxglove’s door,
When butterflies renounce their drams,
I shall but drink the more!

Till seraphs swing their snowy hats,
And saints to windows run,
To see the little tippler
Leaning against the sun!”

it’s a great song, but the poem is just magnificent. reminds me of how i should read more poetry and all the great litrature thats out there.

So it’s a month before summer and it hasn’t really hit me yet. Another school year is almost over. More and more friends are leaving.
Unlike my past summers in the last 4 or so years I won’t be traveling overseas this time around. I plan on taking summer classes and staying in Orlando, maybe visit a friend in San Fransisco.

I’ve be more productive lately, having a to do list and keeping track of a calendar makes it easier. There is still so much I have to do though.
I want to write a song. It doesn’t seem that hard, whenever I hear a good lyric I think to myself “I could’ve written that.”

I’ve made some new friends in the past week and now all I want is their company. The fact that they live in a different city bothers me.

I recently came across the best free online puzzle game. I heard about it through a video podcast. The game is called Auditorium and the objective of the game is to bend the light flow to fill up the different energy levels. It is visually and aurally stunning. Also this is just a short demo (3 stages) of the full game that has yet to come.

There was an alleycat this past Saturday @ st. pete. Actually two alleycats, Nutcracker and Mircale on 34th street. The Nutcracker was the last race in the florida fixed gear series and the harshest (32 miles, carrying bricks, sprints, etc.). I opted for the Miracle on 34th street put on by The Skirts, st. pete’s all female bike club. 

I came in 6th overall and won first out of town (thanks to cory and kyle). It was a fun race, checkpoints included eating a cupcake, drinking vegan nog, and wrapping a box.  Later there was a trick and skid competition. Followed by a party at Pam’s house, where Fatal played.

This so far is the highlight of my winter break.

Being emotionally hurt cuts you deeper than any physical or mental pain inflicted on you. For the first time in my life I’ve felt that personally. I wish I could vividly describe what happened and seeing the irony in which it happened (which makes it worse btw) but I don’t know if the time is right. Or what the implications might be if I do. So for now this is all I’ll choose to write and carry the burden a bit longer.

I’m Leaving tomorrow and I can’t sleep. I’m excited about traveling and being in a plane for 14+ hours. I enjoy being in a plane and in different airports. It’s a surreal feeling, flying above land and people passing them by and arriving in a different world.

Updating this blog won’t be as easy but it’s not like I was very keen on it to begin with. So until the next post, farewell.
